The D'Addario EXP46 is a Pro-Arté EXP coated nylon classical guitar string set in hard tension — delivering the rich tone, increased resistance, and strong projection of the hard tension EJ46, with up to 3–4 times longer string life than uncoated classical strings. The EXP coating is applied to the silver-plated copper bass string wrap wire before winding, creating a built-in barrier against corrosion and wear while preserving the natural round-wound feel and fresh, bright tone of new strings for significantly longer. Clear nylon trebles are laser-sorted for precise intonation. Made in the USA.

EXP Coating — Up to 3–4x Longer Life

D'Addario's EXP micro-coating is cross-linked to the silver-plated copper bass string wrap wire prior to winding — creating an ultra-thin protective barrier that dramatically extends string life by blocking the moisture, sweat, and environmental contaminants that cause corrosion and tone degradation on the wound bass strings. Because the coating is applied before winding rather than after, the strings retain the natural round-wound feel and tone of uncoated strings while gaining the longevity benefits of the EXP coating. New-string tone lasts 3 to 4 times longer than traditional uncoated classical strings.

Hard Tension — Increased Resistance, Volume & Projection

Hard tension strings produce higher string tension than normal tension sets — resulting in greater resistance under the fingers, louder volume, and stronger projection.
